Kanai Lal SG Sitar Full Front View.
Absolutely gorgeous from any angle. This one is a classic !
Kanai Lal SG Sitar Head Stock.
The original pegs were worn down over the years to the point they had to be replaced. This set was the closest I had to a match. Not bad !
Kanai Lal SG Sitar Head Stock Profile.
Along with the replacement pegs, the frets were also removed, reslotted, polished and retied. The very well polished neck front refected the frets beautifully.
Kanai Lal SG Sitar Badge.
This badge is typical of their instruments from the 1970's. All others prior to this were hand lettered, sometimes very elaborately.
Kanai Lal SG Sitar Pick Guard.
Here's a typical two point pick guard design etched with an even hand and weight. Those dark dots are the ends of tiny bamboo spikes used to hold the piece down along with the acetone glue. Beautiful design !
Kanai Lal SG Sitar Tabli.
This is a classic design of carving which immediately identifies this as coming from the Kanai Lal shop. What appeals to me, aside from the depth and clarity is that each side is not a mirror image. The hand drawn element takes away the static feeling and gives the entire surface a warmth that really catches the eye.
Kanai Lal SG Sitar Tumba Carving.
No mistake ! This is pure Kanai Lal. Outstanding stuff !
Kanai Lal SG Sitar Money Shot.
In a word - WOW ! ! !
